Collection of a couple of thousand tilings and patterns with some organisation. Created by Brian Wichmann and now maintained by MIT Libraries. Additions from 2024.
Contains depictions of roughly 250 substitution tilings, typically accompanied by a depiction of a substitution system. Contains implicit claims such as “this substitution system leads to a plane tessellation, a patch of which is as depicted.” Topic specific. No apparent code or description of method of generating illustration. Illustrations not reproducible. Detailed substantiation of claims not present, although for simpler systems can be verified by inspection. Not primarily intended as an illustration repository, but nevertheless contains many.
These pages present interactive graphical polyhedra organized in several categories. Each polyhedron's page contains a 3-dimensional virtual model of the polyhedron, followed by a summary of the polyhedron's vital statistics. The model provides an opaque visual mode, a translucent visual mode, and a metrics mode. In the visual modes, the polyhedron can be rotated and scaled, the perspective can be changed, and individual faces can be examined in isolation. The metrics mode computes the polyhedron's vital statistics empirically.
